Free Lightroom presets are very different to premium Lightroom presets that have been made free! Keep that in mind when you read through this post The bundle that you can download below is definitely the latter – i.e. This is a bundle of high quality premium presets for Lightroom that have been made free solely for Shotkit.
Normally these presets are part of a much larger bundle which retails for $99 (but are currently ). I’ve teamed up with my friend Jon from Contrastly, who’s an expert at creating premium Lightroom presets. Jon has kindly put together an exclusive pack of 25 of his most popular presets, and the good news is that you can download them all right here. Jon’s also offering Shotkit fans a huge 92% discount on his premium presets –. While we’re on the topic of presets, grab these on the More Brides blog, which I also author.
What’s the Free Lightroom Presets Bundle? Included in the Shotkit x Contrastly free preset bundle are 25 of the most popular film, HDR, black and white and portrait presets for Lightroom. You can download and use the presets straight away to apply different looks to your photo in just one click of the mouse.
Used properly, presets can take lifeless and dull photos from *yawn* to WOW in seconds! Here’s a list of the premium Lightroom presets that are included for free in the downloadable bundle at the end of this post. Before/After Image Examples Here are a few before/after examples for you to get an idea of what you can achieve. All the photos were edited in seconds with just one click using the Shotkit x Contrastly Lightroom presets bundle, which you can download for free below. #1 Free Film Presets for Lightroom The selection of film presets in the bundle are arguably similar to VSCO presets for Lightroom in that they emulate popular vintage film stock, taking the digital look away from your image, leaving you with something with more character.
There are 5 free film look presets for you to experiment with, each with different qualities to suit various lighting situations. #2 Free Landscape Presets for Lightroom If you’re looking for free landscape Lightroom presets that will give your photos punch, clarity and vibrance, the HDR ones included in this bundle are perfect. Just choose the strength of the effect (Low vs High), then tweak the sliders from there. The look of isn’t for everyone, but for those who want a one click solution to maximise the dynamic range of a photo, give these presets a whirl. (If you want to produce amazing landscape images without an HDR effect, check out these ). #4 Free Black and White Presets for Lightroom Most people know that you can change an image from colour to black and white in Lightroom just by clicking the ‘V’ key in the Develop module (see here for more ).
However, there’s so much more to a B&W conversion than just this. Sierras 1-5 will open your eyes up to what is possible in black and white. Each of the 5 free presets modify the shadows, highlights, contrast, blacks, whites there’s a lot going on under the hood! Have a play around yourself and pick the black and white preset that suits your mood. #5 Free Portrait Presets for Lightroom Sweetheart 1-4 are a range of free Lightroom presets for portraits that will give you a one click solution to getting a unique look to your people shots. My favourite of the 4 portrait presets is #2 (shown above), which does a fine job at lightening shadows to clean out minor imperfections in the skin, as well as bringing some light into the eyes.
Remember that presets can’t take a badly lit portrait photo and make it look great – you have to concentrate on getting the picture right in camera before you apply the preset. How to Install your Free Lightroom Presets There are a few ways you can install Lightroom presets, but here’s by far the easiest method: • Open Lightroom, and press the letter ‘G’ to make sure you are in the ‘Library’ module. • Select all the presets in the bundle and drag and drop them into the Lightroom Library where all your photo thumbnails are. Your cursor will change to a ‘+’ symbol. • Press your enter button repeatedly to confirm that you wish to install the free presets.
Lightroom calls these ‘templates’, but they’re the same thing. Then navigate to your Develop module by pressing ‘D’ and look for your new presets on the left hand side, under ‘Presets’ and ‘User Presets’. Hovering over each preset name will allow you to preview the effect before applying it to your photo. Clicking the effect applies the preset. (I’ve written a book on more to speed up your workflow if you’re interested.). How to Use your Free Lightroom Presets Presets for Lightroom* can save us hours of time editing our photos. They’re also a great way to learn about post processing, by seeing how the various features in Lightroom affect the way our final image looks.

You can tweak the sliders of any of the 25 presets included in the bundle available for download below. I recommend you do this to achieve a truly custom look to your image. Just remember this: Lightroom presets aren’t the magic bullet for your images. Think of them as a head start to getting to where you want with your post processing.
Above all, have fun with the presets. In Lightroom, it’s so easy to apply a preset, tweak some of the settings, then hit ‘Reset’ to get back to your original image if you don’t like the end result. You can learn a lot from examining how and why a preset is altering your image, and I encourage you to have a play around.
